In addition to providing patients with the very best care available, research is an important focus at Memorial Hospital. Our investigations range from clinical trials, which test the safety and efficacy of new treatments, to translational research, which acts as a bridge between discoveries made in the laboratory and those made in the clinic, to mathematical and computational research focused analyzing and interpreting biomedical data. We also have a team of investigators devoted to the development of new drugs, from basic research to animal studies to early clinical trials.

  • Clinical Research
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center conducts one of the largest programs of clinical research in the world. Clinical research at the Center combines the efforts of laboratory and clinical investigators in various disciplines and departments to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
  • Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program
We anticipate that this program will greatly increase the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's research strength in a number of areas directly relevant to translational goals, including molecular pathology, genetic epidemiology, cancer prevention, pharmacodynamics of anticancer agents, pharmacogenomics, and imaging.
  • Epidemiology & Biostatistics
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics provides collaborative research and consulting support to investigators throughout Memorial Sloan-Kettering; engages in research encompassing biostatistics methodology, health outcomes and genetic & environmental epidemiology; develops & maintains the Clinical Research Database (CRDB) and the computational cluster.
  • Collaborative Research Centers
The Brain Tumor Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering fosters collaboration between the Center's clinical and research arms by generating basic science and preclinical research on primary brain tumors and metastatic tumors to the brain, and in turn, promoting the translation of this research into clinical trials. The Experimental Therapeutics Center assembles a diverse group of physicians and scientists from within Memorial Sloan-Kettering and supports their basic science and clinical research.
